Whether its the scenery, the borders atmosphere or just the plain good old hospitlity that you've come to expect from the host club, this event never fails to please. With a good forecast for the weekend the turnout was good with junior competitors from the T15 classes, Techno sailors in the 5.8m / 7.8m fleet, a solitary RS:X, 5 Formulas and more Raceboards than I,ve seen in a long while - many of them being sailed by the parents of the T15 competitors. Now thats how to get adults into windsurfing, why sit on the shore watching your kids have fun - come and join them!

The first 2 races on Saturday gave little warrning as to what was to come. On and off the plane in races 1 & 2 suddenly gave way to winds of 27-31 mph for race 3 and gave the rescue crews plenty to do. Credit to Tom Dryden on a 9.5m sail for managing to complete the course and to the Formula sailors for providing the watching crowd with an entertaining version of water skittles as one by one they were drilled on the upwind leg.

The clubs hot and cold buffet supper provided much needed substance before the usual suspects drifted off to the Tibbie Shiels Inn which for the past couple of years has been under new owners. With visual rennovations to the bar area, we even had a live band for the night and the windsurfers were well represented into the early hours of Sunday.

With lighter conditions on Sunday the Race Officer got in the necessary number of races in typical shifty St. Mary's winds. Overall a great weekend and all credit to Bruce Scott and his wife Anne who host the event on behalf of the Club.

Overall winner and 1st Raceboard - Tom Dryden
2nd Dave Dobson
