NEWS 2017 Regional Race Series

NORTH EAST WINDSURFERS (The North East Division of the UKWA)
WHAT IS N.E.W.S?
N.E.W.S. is the northeast division of the United Kingdom Windsurfing Association (UKWA) and covers the geographical areas of North East of England, the Scottish Borders and North Yorkshire. It serves to provide competition experience to all skill levels on a regional basis.
WHAT DOES N.E.W.S. DO?
N.E.W.S. organises and runs an annual regional race series for windsurfers using various sailing clubs in and around the region’s borders. Racing takes place in the established classes of;
Raceboard including RS:X,
Formula & Techno 7.8, 6.8, 5.8, 4.5, (3.5 providing conditions are suitable)
There is also a Club class devoted to the novice or inexperienced club competitor.
WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF AN EVENT?
Events are staged over a weekend with a minimum of 3 races being held each day. A competitor’s best 3 results are used to calculate the weekends finishing positions. Racing normally starts around 1.00pm Saturday and 11.00am Sunday.

2/3rd.. September – St. Mary’s Loch Sailing Club TD7 5LH
16/17th. September – South Shields Sailing Club NE33 1LH
7/8th. October – Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club DH8 9PT
